Having lived in several East Asian countries, I became deeply inspired by the richness and variety of their cultures. This piece was created in Vietnam after an evening walk through the rainy streets of Huế, where I noticed a charming and unexpected detail: a small statue of two elderly men playing Go, nestled inside someone’s flower pot.
At the time, it was autumn in my country, and I found myself missing the crisp chill of colder seasons. That feeling shaped the direction of the illustration.
In my imagination, this quiet flower-pot scene transformed into something magical, a moment suspended between autumn and winter, where two men continue their game as the seasons slowly shift around them. Frost begins to gather on the leaves, and the first snowflakes appear in the air.
